THE NEWEST FORMS OF JOURNALISM IN DIGITAL AGE OF MASS COMMUNICATION

Abstract


The thesis focuses on the study of the main trends in media sphere while the rapid spread of the Internet, which has contributed to the development of digital media-forms. The processes of globalization, digitalization and convergence have led to transformations in the media sector. Furthemore they have changed the nature of journalism and expanded its horizons. The major changes affected the organizational process, process of producing and consumption of new digital content. Much attention is paid to the notion of “traditional journalism” and “digital journalism”. The main characteristics of digital journalism which represents a fundamentally new type of journalism and cultural practice were defined and sprecified. As the consequence of digitalization, new forms of digital journalism are appeared. Among them are online-journalism, convergence journalism, cross-media journalism and others, which combine traditional journalism gains with technological innovations of the digital age. A few general remarks are given to the main terminology variants. The influence of network-journalism has provoked terminological boom in the field of digital journalsm. In order to avoid randomness in terminology we offer to update terminological system.
